Learn about printing, scanning, and copying at the White Library.


  • Connect to the Student wifi, not Guest wifi
  • Make sure your document size is 8 1/2 x 11 (Letter)


Instructions for printing from a Mac laptop

Choose "Black and White printer or Library "big" Printers".

Printer names:  Libup1  and  Libup2

Library Toshiba B/W copier info:  Libup1 model: e‐STUDIO 5508A   //   Libup2 model: e‐STUDIO 5518A


Windows 10 or older:

How to add a printer on a Windows PC:
1. Click Start (the windows icon in your taskbar)

2. In search bar, type \\print

3. Hit Enter

4. If asked to enter credentials, enter your SAU username in this format:  arbor\ab123456 and then enter your SAU password.  Select "Remember my credentials".

5. A list of all available printers will appear. Double-click on the printer you want to add.  Library printers:  libup1 or libup2

If you need to search for a specific printer you can click in the search bar in the top right corner and type in the printer name there.


Chromebooks (Chrome OS):  Wireless printing not available at this time.

Try these alternatives:  1. Save your document AS A PDF to a flash drive.  Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the printer to print.  Need a flash drive?  Ask at the Circulation Desk.  We have extras that you can borrow.  or  2.  Sign into one of the computers in the computer lab and print from there.

Black and White Printing
Black and white printing to the library computer labs is free for SAU students, faculty and staff. Black & white printing to the Lower Level Workroom is $0.10 per page.

Free printing (current SAU students):

  • Main floor computer lab: Libup1 and Libup2 

Color Printing

Color printing is available at the Circulation Desk on the main floor.  Color printing is $.50 per page, per side for all library users, including students.

There is a 25 page maximum for color printing requests.  Print jobs of 26 pages or more should be sent to M&D

To print to the Circulation Desk:

  • Send your document via email to   Circulation Desk staff will print your document.
  • Payment must be made at the Circulation Desk before collecting the print job.

Additional info:

  • Word or PDF documents preferred
  • Documents must be formatted and sized correctly before printing.  We can provide sizing and format editing on a very limited basis.
  • White printer paper sizes: 8.5 x 11, 8.5 x 14, or 11 x 17
  • Color paper sizes: 8.5 x 11
  • Card stock 8.5 x 11 or 11 x 17 (additional $.10 per page)

Community Patrons

Library users not affiliated with SAU may send their print requests via email to the Circulation Desk:
Black & white printing is $0.10 per page. Color printing is $0.50/page, per side.  Payment must be made in cash at the Circulation Desk before collecting the print job.

Printing charges will be waived for any pages damaged due to a hardware problem (paper jam, toner low, smeared ink, etc.). Printing charges will not be waived for pages with editing or formatting errors.


Self-serve scanning to email or flash drive is available on the following machines:

  • Libup1 or Libup2 in the Main Floor computer lab
  • Need assistance? Library staff will scan your documents free-of-charge at the Circulation Desk.


Photocopying is available at the Circulation Desk.  Photocopying is $0.10 per page for black & white copies, $.50 per page/per side for color copies.

Note: scanning to email and then printing to the main floor computer lab is free for students.


Faxing is available at the Circulation Desk.  Sending faxes is free.  Receiving faxes at the library is $0.10 per page.  Fax number: 517-750-2108.


The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement
