Find Books
The best way to find a book is to start at FIND Books/eBooks (or choose the FIND drop-down menu and then Books/eBooks).
You will be able to search for print books, ebooks, or both. You can search by title, author, keyword, or subject. Use the Advanced Search link if you would like to search using multiple search terms at the same time (title and author; keyword and date of publication; etc).
Print Books
Print book availability and shelving locations can be found beneath the book's summary when searching our online catalog.
- "General Collection" books are located on the top floor of the library.
- The call number, located on the spine or on the front of a book, is the “address” of the book on the shelf.
- Library books are placed in Dewey Decimal call number order on the shelf, starting with 000 and ending with 999.
- History sections:
- 300-306: Social Sciences
- 320: Political Science
- 900: General history, philosophy of history
- 910: Geography and travel
- 920: Biography and genealogy
- 930 History of ancient world (to c. 499)
- 940 History of Europe
- 950 History of Asia
- 960 History of Africa
- 970 History of North America
- 971 Canada
- 972 Mexico, Central America, West Indies, Bermuda
- 973-979 United States
- 980 History of South America
- 990 History of other areas
E-Books
Look for the blue "View eBook" button to read SAU ebooks online.
